Centrum Badań Australijskich Australia

Centre for Australian Studies

Dr Adam Rustowski (Canberra)

Dr hab. Waldemar Skrzypczak (UMK, Kierownik Centrum)

Resources include publications on Australian nature, history, society, politics, visual arts, literature and linguistics, and also dvd/video recordings of Australian films and documentaries, as well as some materials on CD-roms.

The Centre for Australian Studies was started in January 2005 as a result of joint efforts of The Australian Embassy and Nicolaus Copernicus University. A generous donation of books and video/dvd materials and equipment, which was provided by The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia constitutes the Centre’s vital resources..

The main objectives of the Centre for Australian Studies involve academic explorations of Australian social and cultural environments in a possibly wide range of domains. Ways of accomplishing these goals can be summed up under the following headings: (a) implementation of Australian linguistic, literary and cultural themes into the curriculum of our English majors, (b) promoting student and staff exchanges, inviting speakers and lecturers working in the areas of language and literary/cultural studies, (c) organising interdisciplinary conferences on Australian subjects and publication of relevant materials.
